| Deep Release for Chronic Pain and Stress |
Deep Release is a short-term intensive therapeutic process, based on the ancient and well-recognized power of acupuncture to heal emotions, that is designed to relieve the symptoms of chronic pain and stress.
Beneath the symptoms of most chronic physical and emotional pain are layers of experience, often painful or traumatic, that are difficult to access through our conscious mind. The Deep Release process facilitates access to these layers, with the goal of dissolving blocks to our innate healing abilities. The Deep Release process is often beneficial in treating chronic pain and/or stress where other approaches have been ineffective.
Philosophy
Deep Release is rooted in the paradoxical nature of healing. Most of us tend to contract, struggle against and try to avoid our pain, particularly when it is chronic or severe.. This response is natural and understandable, however it tends to keep us locked into an adversarial relationship with the pain and to perpetuate the hold it has on us. The Deep Release method encourages the client to open and go toward the pain within the supportive environment created by the acupuncture. The goal is simply to explore the pain, and any feelings associated with the pain that may arise. When patients are able to loosen their fear of the pain, there is room for healing and joy. The result may be an easing of pain, or a more peaceful relationship with it.
Each individual has inner resources that support their healing process. The deepest healing takes place within a context of partnership and shared intention, and I endeavor to create that partnership with you.
What Happens at a Session
Deep Release is a unique acupuncture therapy, in which acupuncture needles are used to facilitate an open psychological state where the client has access to information and sensations that are normally hidden. The acupuncturist follows the patient’s lead. Some sessions may be silent., while others may involve more interaction, similar to what one might expect in a therapy session. Each session is a collaboration between the client and the acupuncturist, with the goal of allowing the client to explore their pain and uncover its hidden meanings.
A Deep Release treatment is time-intensive. The acupuncturist spends approximately 1 hour with the patient at each session. It begins with a verbal check-in in which the intention for the session is set, and ends with time for verbal reflection and processing. Treatments can include deep breathing, heat therapy, and massage.
Should you wish to bring your psychotherapist to support you during the Deep Release process, you are encouraged to do so.
How to Begin
Please call to schedule an initial consultation to discuss your health concerns, assess your readiness for the process, clarify your goals, and answer any questions.
A three- or six-session series is recommended for almost all clients. In a series, each session builds on the work of past sessions. |
